Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) |
The course in MSA teaches the written language of the modern Arabic media. I cover all the language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. All levels use authentic materials like newspapers advertisements, television interviews and magazine articles. However, grammatical rules are also covered in an interesting ways and may be presented in PowerPoint. |

Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (ECA) |
The ECA course teaches the spoken Arabic of Cairo. The purpose of this course is for the participants to communicate with Egyptian in real life situations: how to communicate with Taxi drivers, how to bargain, how to communicate with the maid and how to express your self from simple to complex sentences. Participants use skits, visual aids, commercials, films, games and role playing to illustrate how the structures studied in lessons are used in real life situations. Arabic script may be used gradually, so participants can read some Ads. from newspapers, some street signs and expiry dates of food items. |

Egyptian / Arab Culture |
The
purpose of this course is to introduce expatriates to Egyptian culture.
I offer one hour seminar on each of the following topics: social events,
religious ceremonies, marriage and divorce (polygamy and its
conditions), women's issues, relationships between women and men,
socioeconomic conditions in Egypt, the negative impact of drugs and
Egyptian family. In each seminar, the participants will engage in discussions ( in English) of the issues at hand and exchange the views and compare the differences between Eastern and Western cultures. Scenes from pertinent Egyptian movies are well selected and presented to shed light on the topics.
