During the summer of 1994, Dr. A. Kaye, professor of linguistics in California State University, was assigned to attend the CASA program at AUC, observe some classes and evaluate the whole program. At the end of the program, he wrote the following about classes:
"Turning next to Kamal, he is obviously a very well-trained and hard working teacher of Fusha (Modern Standard Arabic). He, too, is very encouraging to his students as he carefully explained some grammatical and other details to them. As with Soheir, the emphasis is on getting all of the students to participate by getting their "language monitors" down, thus reducing their level of anxiety. The four times I saw Kamal in action have forced me to conclude that he is a truly gifted and caring professional. The material used in class were also very well defined and interesting."
